Fresh Pond
New York, 2002
Using the existing perimeter of an existing house, two overlapping squares fit perfectly into the existing boundary to create the Loening residence. This is a modern version of the American wood house with its central circulation core and glass porch. This house is deceptively simple and through a soft manipulation of elements provides for unique spaces on each of its three levels. The combination of large corner windows in modest spaces speak about the different needs of the body and soul.
